Less reactivity with tannic acids

It is known that iron ion in general reacts with tannin or tannic acids contained in food to make insoluble compounds, resulting in reduced ability to utilize iron.
Reactivity of Sodium Ferrous Citrate (SFC), the ingredient of Sanferol®, or ferrous sulfate with tannin was compared and demonstrated that SFC is less reactive with tannin than ferrous sulfate.4) In addition, another report also describes that intake of iron with green tea containing tannic acid did not influence the absorption of SFC.22)
