Less effect of tannic acids on absorption of SFC

It has been explained that the absorption of iron is inhibited when iron preparations are taken with green tea, black tea, coffee, etc., which contain tannic acids. Because tannic acids react with iron to form insoluble compounds, the formation of these compounds inhibits iron from being absorbed from the intestinal tract. Clinically, however, it was investigated the effects of drinking green tea on treatment for anemia in pregnant women administered Sodium Ferrous Citrate (SFC) preparations, and reported that prohibition of drinking tea is unnecessary when treating anemia with SFC preparations.22)
