Expanded food categories for Sucrose fatty acid
esters in the U.S.A
On November 12th 2003, FDA has responded to our GRAS-Notification(No. GRN129)
that "the agency has no questions" .The scope of the notice is Sucrose
fatty acid esters for use as an emulsifier in beta-carotene, beta-apo-carotenal
and canthaxanthin color preparations when they are added to beverages, crackers,
soups and sauces. Since FDA has already approved to use Sucrose fatty acid esters
in baked goods, dairy-product analogues and so on under CFR 172.859, we expanded
food categories that sucrose fatty acid esters can be used through the GRAS-Notification. |

Authorization of Sucrose Oligoesters in the
U.S.A
On August 20th 2003,"Sucrose Oligoesters"(CFR172.869)has been permitted
as a Direct Food Additives.
Lipophilic type of Ryoto sugar ester products can be used in chocolate and butter-substitute
spreads, at a level not to exceed 2.0%, except for standardized foods. |
